NSW Food Safety Supervisor Certificate

NSW Food Safety Supervisor Certificate - Course Details

The NSW Food Safety Supervisor Certificate (FSS) is a legal requirement for food safety supervisors working in NSW. Every licensed food business must have a food safety supervisor to add a level of on-site protection for food health and safety.
The course covers essential food safety knowledge, including food handling and storage, cleaning and sanitation, pest control, and foodborne illness.

Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive certification from the NSW Food Authority. With the certification, participants will be able to provide on-site protection for food health and safety and ensure that all NSW food businesses meet the necessary requirements.

The NSW FSS Certificate course is delivered via e-learning (online), which provides learners with the flexibility to study at their own pace in their own time. Once you have completed the NSW FSS Certificate course and achieved a passing grade, you will be able to download, save and print a PDF copy of your certificate. Your NSW FSS will be posted out within 7 days of your course completion.

Yes, an upfront payment is required before starting the NSW Food Safety Supervisor Certificate course online. CFT accepts payment by Visa, Mastercard or American Express.

All staff that supervise food preparation and handling at Restaurants, Hotels, Cafes, Aged Care Facilities, Motels, Bistros, Fast Food Outlets, Catering Operations, and Retail Food Outlets in NSW are required to complete the SITXFSA005 (Use Hygienic Practices for Food Safety) and SITXFSA006 (Participate in Safe Food Handling Practices).

Students in the NSW Food Safety Supervisor Certificate Course (course codes SITXFSA005 & SITXFSA006) will be assessed in two components:

1. A set of online multiple-choice questions at the end of each section to test your knowledge, AND
2. A simple skills observation report carried out in the workplace.

There are some things we can’t see you doing through your computer – such as washing your hands. That’s why we need you to ask somebody that you work with, or someone who works in the food industry, to complete a skills observation report
