Restaurant owners in Victoria are disappointed after the state government announced it was reversing its decision to allow up to 50 diners in hospitality venues. The decision was reversed due to a spike in coronavirus cases.
Cafes, restaurants and pubs had been set to be allowed 50 patrons at one time from 22 June, up from 20 patrons. But that will be put on hold until July 12.
This is a devastating blow for owners and managers of hospitality venues who have taken bookings for up to 50 diners at a time, rostered on staff and purchased enough food to serve guests at the new capacity limits.
